About Me
My name is Ja'Von Hill, and I am an independent filmmaker and aspiring television writer and showrunner. My specialties include screenwriting and editing, and I write films with Black and LGBTQ+ focused narratives. I earned my MFA in Film and Media Arts with a concentration in Arts and Entertainment from American University's School of Communication. My mission as a filmmaker is to write lead roles for Black women and create more opportunities for BIPOC and queer folx in the film industry overall.

nFILWASG SHORT FILM SCRIPT
Never fall in Love With a Straight Girl is a queer short film promoting Black queer intimacy and bisexual visibility. Kari, a masculine-presenting lesbian, and Shakerra, her bisexual ex-girlfriend, are moving out of their DC apartment. Before they move out and move on with their lives they receive some much needed closure.
otis SHORT FILM SCRIPT
Otis is a narrative short film about a recently divorced Black woman, Natalie, who finally achieves her dreams of owning a record store. While she anticipates her grand opening, Natalie must deal with the drug addict in front of her store that refuses to leave. The film is entitled Otis because the three-act structure is named after three Otis Redding songs that highlight Natalie's narrative arc.

This is an excerpt from the pilot episode of a television series I am writing called Maneater. This is a serialized drama about a mentally unstable hit-woman seeking to gain control of her life from her narcissistic father/boss.
Daddy feature film script
Daddy is a feature film script about an unapologetic sexworker who forms an unorthodox friendship with a clergyman. Through their trauma bonding, they seek therapy in each other in order to overcome the adversity in their lives.
euphoria spec script
This script is a spec of the popular HBOMax television series Euphoria. This is an alternate universe where main character Rue and her best friend Lexi are lovers. Although Lexi loves Rue, she endures the constant battle of dating a drug addict and suspecting Rue is cheating on her with the new girl Jules.
HNIJ SHORT FILM SCRIPT
Her Name is Jeremy is a queer short film about a pianist who is a loving husband and father but secretly wants to live their life as a woman. Therefore, Jeremy meets a drag queen named Sweet Magnolia that introduces them to a lifestyle they never knew they could have.

Catcalling is a video essay written and shot in the style of Spike Lee's film She's Gotta Have It. This video essay showcases the cinematic element of auteurism while revealing the problematic nature of catcalling through 4th wall breaking and other elements complementary to Spike Lee's filming style
